Bat Removal & Exclusion in Northeast Ohio

Bats in your attic? Don’t wait. TruShield Wildlife Control provides certified, humane bat removal and exclusion across Cleveland, Akron, Youngstown, and all of Northeast Ohio. We are Ohio CNWACO licensed, available 24/7, and use proven one-way exclusion techniques that permanently solve the problem without harming the bats.

Why Act Fast? Every hour bats remain in your home increases the risk of rabies exposure, bat guano buildup (which carries histoplasmosis), and structural damage. Ohio bats return to the same roost year after year — without proper exclusion, they’ll be back.

Our Bat Removal Process

  • Step 1: Thorough Bat Inspection

Our licensed technician performs a thorough exterior and interior inspection to locate all bat entry points — soffits, fascia boards, gable vents, and ridge vents. We conduct a dusk bat watch to confirm activity and estimate colony size.

  • Step 2: Seal Secondary Entry Points

We close all gaps EXCEPT the primary bat exits using weatherproof caulk, galvanized steel mesh, and professional-grade sealants. This ensures bats can only exit through our exclusion devices.

  • Step 3: Install One-Way Exclusion Devices

We install professional bat exclusion devices (bat valves, exclusion tubes, or netting funnels) over primary entry points. Bats can fly out at night but cannot re-enter. Devices stay in place a minimum of 7 days to ensure the entire colony has left.

  • Step 4: Permanently Seal All Entry Points

After all bats have exited, we remove the exclusion devices and permanently seal every entry point with durable materials. Our work comes with a re-entry guarantee — if bats return through any sealed point we serviced, we come back at no cost.

  • Step 5: Bat Guano Cleanup & Attic Sanitation

Bat guano contains Histoplasma capsulatum spores — a serious respiratory health hazard. Our team uses proper PPE, HEPA vacuuming, and antimicrobial treatment to safely decontaminate your attic. Insulation replacement available.

  • We return after exclusion to verify all bats have exited and all entry points remain sealed. Our re-entry guarantee means if bats return through any point we serviced, we come back at no charge. We also provide complete documentation of all work completed for your records and any insurance needs.

✺ Frequently asked questions ✺

  • Not if the job is done right. Bats return to the same roost every year, so permanent exclusion is critical. TruShield seals every potential entry point and provides a re-entry guarantee: if bats get back in through any area we serviced, we return at no charge. No other local company offers this level of guarantee.

  • Bat guano accumulates quickly and causes serious damage. It contains Histoplasma capsulatum fungal spores that cause histoplasmosis — a potentially serious lung disease. It also destroys insulation, creates ammonia odors, stains ceilings, and can compromise structural integrity. TruShield provides full guano cleanup, HEPA vacuuming, and insulation replacement services.

  • Yes — and we are fully licensed to do it. Ohio bats are protected under state and federal law, meaning lethal methods and pesticides are illegal. TruShield uses humane, exclusion-only techniques approved by Ohio Wildlife regulations. We are Ohio CNWACO certified, ensuring all work is done legally and effectively.

  • Ohio law prohibits bat exclusion from May 1 through July 31 — the maternal roosting season when flightless pups are present. Performing exclusion during this window can trap and kill young bats, which is illegal. TruShield always respects these seasonal restrictions and will perform a thorough inspection so we can plan your exclusion at the right time.
